We invite all mountain lovers to climb the highest peak of the Armenian Highland — Mount Ararat (5137 m / 5165 m) and take a sightseeing tour of Western Armenia.
Ararat is considered a relatively accessible 5000+ peak, serving as an excellent introduction to high-altitude mountaineering.
Itinerary:
Day 1. Yerevan - border - Ani - Bayazet
Departure from Yerevan early in the morning. After crossing the border, we will stop at Lake Childir, then visit Ani, the ancient capital of the Bagratid Kingdom. We will also stop at the Koghb salt mines before arriving in Bayazet. Overnight at a hotel.
Day 2. First Camp (3200 m)
Transfer from the hotel to 2200 m by off-road vehicles. A 4-5 hour hike with light backpacks to the first camp at 3200 m. Overnight in tents. Heavy luggage and camping gear are transported by horses throughout the trip.
Day 3. Second Camp (4000 m)
Ascent to the second camp at 4000 m. Overnight in tents.
Day 4. Summit Day (5137 m) and descent.
The ascent starts around 01:00 - 02:00 to reach the summit by morning. After photos and celebration, return to the 4000 m camp to rest, then descend to the base. Overnight at a hotel in Bayazet.
Day 5. Bayazet - Kars - Yerevan
After breakfast, visit Kars to see the Holy Apostles Church and Kars Fortress, followed by the return trip to Yerevan.
Depending on weather conditions, an extra day on the mountain may be added at no additional cost. We will be accompanied by an experienced local guide, a cook, and a second guide during the ascent.
Price includes: organization, all transfers, hotel accommodation (2 nights), all meals during the program, services of mountain guides and a cook, entrance fees, provision of tents, sleeping pads, and crampons, pack horses, and the climbing permit.
Price does not include: visa fees, medical insurance, and personal expenses.
Successful participants will receive a certificate from the North Peak Mountain Club and the Armenian Federation of Mountaineering and Mountain Tourism.
Required gear: 2 backpacks (20-25L and 60-70L), trekking poles, thermal underwear, waterproof mountain boots and gear, warm clothing, winter hat, gloves, gaiters, spare clothes and shoes, sun protection, sleeping bag (comfort 0°C to -5°C), personal hygiene items, first aid kit, headlamp, 1L thermos, raincoat, and windbreaker.
