We invite all mountain lovers to climb the highest peak of the Armenian Highlands — Mount Ararat (5137m / 5165m) and visit the historic sites of Western Armenia. Ararat is considered a relatively accessible 5000m+ peak, serving as a gateway to more complex mountains.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Yerevan - Ani - Bayazet. Visit the medieval capital Ani and the Koghb salt mine.
Day 2: Base Camp (3200m). Transfer to 2200m by mountain vehicles, followed by a 4-5 hour hike. Heavy luggage is transported by horses.
Day 3: Second Camp (4000m). Ascent and overnight in tents.
Day 4: Summit (5137m) and descent to Camp 1. The climb starts between 01:00 - 02:00 AM.
Day 5: Return to Bayazet. Visit Daroynk Fortress and Ishak Pasha Palace.
Day 6: Lake Van. Berkri Waterfall, Tushpa Fortress, Akhtamar Island, and swimming in the lake.
Day 7: Kars - Yerevan. Holy Apostles Church and Kars Fortress.
Depending on weather, an extra day on the mountain may be added at no extra cost. The group is accompanied by experienced local and Armenian guides and a cook.
Included: transport, hotel (3 nights), meals during the ascent and breakfasts, festive dinner, entrance fees, tents and mats, luggage horses, and climbing permit.
Not included: visa, meals in cities, medical insurance.
Required gear: 2 backpacks (20-25L and 60-70L), trekking poles, mountain boots and clothing, warm layers, gloves, sleeping bag (comfort 0°C to -5°C), sun protection, headlamp, and thermos.
