Abul Mountain Sunrise Trek
Hiking & NatureA two-day expedition to Javakheti to conquer the highest point of the region, Mt. Abul, and visit the Vardzia cave monastery. This is a moderately difficult trek covering 15 km with a 1300m elevation gain. Prior hiking experience and proper gear are mandatory. Itinerary Day 1: Departure from Yerevan, Vahan Teryan House-Museum, Lake Paravani, and camping on the slopes of Mt. Abul. Day 2: Ascent to the summit starting at 01:00 to catch the sunrise, return to camp for breakfast, and a visit to Vardzia. Required gear: sturdy mountain boots, backpack, trekking poles, headlamp, warm and spare clothing, raincoat, sun protection, personal first aid kit, and a 3-day supply of food and water. Price includes: transport, guide services, tent, sleeping bag and mat rental, insurance for Georgia, and Vardzia entrance fees.
