An exclusive expedition to the border monuments of Northern Lori as part of the "Armenian Fortresses and Castles" project. Program: • Visit the village of Madan, once home to a Greek community, and the scenic village of Jiliza on the forested slopes of Lalvar • Explore the ruins of the ancient church in Jiliza • Forest hike to the medieval Bazaberd (also known as Chakhalaberd), one of the best-preserved and most impressive fortresses of Gugark The total hiking distance is approximately 4 km. Hiking gear and proper footwear are recommended. There will be a food court stop along the way. Note: Jiliza is located directly on the Armenian-Georgian border, requiring a special permit.
