A hike to Smbataberd fortress (10th–11th centuries) and the Tsaghats Kar monastery complex in Vayots Dzor. The route starts from Artabuynk village, ascends to the walls of Smbataberd overlooking the surrounding mountains and Yeghegis valley, and continues to Tsaghats Kar. Trail length: around 10 km What to bring: • Comfortable hiking shoes and clothing • Warm clothes and a spare set • Backpack • Warm hat and sun hat • Sunglasses and sunscreen • Rain jacket • Gloves • First aid kit • Flashlight • Food for one day Bottled water is provided.
