Georgia, autumn 1991. A willful twelve-year-old city boy, Toma, lives with his grandmother in Tbilisi, forever in trouble at school. Then his father Nemo — just released from prison under an independence amnesty, and a stranger to Toma since he was two — takes the boy to his ancestral mountain village on a hunting trip, hoping to make up for the lost years and teach Toma how to be independent. Bit by bit Nemo reveals that he once killed a man in these mountains. Just as Toma begins to accept his father, he accidentally shoots Nemo dead in what seems a hunting accident, and must drag the body down the snow-covered mountain — fending off wolves, snowstorms and his own nightmares — to bring his father back to the village.
