A musical documentary-feature visualizing the songs of Yuri Shevchuk's rock band DDT against 20th-century Russian history. A young man returns from war to his provincial hometown in the 1980s, moves to Leningrad, and endures success and unrequited love while witnessing dramatic historical events — each episode built around one DDT track, alternating dramatized scenes with archival footage, documentary fragments and animation.
