Before Charlie Chaplin, the king of silent comedy was French filmmaker and actor Max Linder—clever, elegant, and agile, winning over audiences worldwide in the 1910s and 1920s with brilliant slapstick stunts and subtle social satire. The screening features two of Linder's most celebrated works: • Au secours! / Help! (1924, short film) • Sept Ans de malheur / Seven Years Bad Luck (1921, feature) In French with Armenian and English subtitles. Screened in the Auditorium (Big Hall) of the National Library.
