"Matsun": Folk Dance Talk & Workshop
"Matsun" (or "Matsun em drel vyr darun") is an ancient ritual dance traditionally performed around a fermenting pot of yogurt to ward off evil. Recreating this ceremonial setting, we will ferment matsun together while Stepan Toroyan unpacks the dance's cultural background. Program: • Matsun fermentation ritual • Talk by Stepan Toroyan • Dance workshop • Community dance • Matsun tasting • Concluding with a joint "Govnd" (Govand)
