Candlelight Vigil Against Domestic Violence
October 1 marks the National Day Against Domestic Violence in Armenia. On this day in 2010, 20-year-old Zaruhi Petrosyan was beaten to death by her husband. Despite years of advocacy, domestic abuse still lacks an effective systemic response, leaving women to confront victim-blaming and institutional pushback when seeking help. The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Women gathers for a candlelight vigil to emphasize the urgency of addressing violence at every level.
Organizer
A feminist human-rights NGO in Armenia that conducts advocacy, capacity-building and public campaigns on gender-based violence, reproductive and sexual health, and legal rights. They organize trainings, workshops and resources for health workers, journalists, lawyers and displaced persons and publish research and calls to action.
