Garage Museum of Contemporary Art has published a book on Soviet modernist architecture in Yerevan. Architectural historians Anna Bronovitskaya and Elena Markus, along with architectural photographer Yuri Palmin, will visit Yerevan to present the book they have been working on for over five years. How did the authors select buildings for their study, ranging from the minimalist Khachatur Abovyan House-Museum to the monumental Sports and Concert Complex? What unexpected discoveries did they encounter? What distinguishes Yerevan modernism from that of Moscow, Leningrad, Almaty, and Tashkent, and what are the similarities? The authors and the publication's scientific editor Karen Balyan will discuss these topics with commissioning editor Olga Dubitskaya. The book will be available for purchase at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts shop. During the presentation, special architectural photographs by Yuri Palmin will be shown, including some not included in the book. The event will be held in Russian. Due to limited seating, participation is only possible via pre-registration. For information, please call (+37410) 541932/34.
