The Snake and the Bird: Charlotte Sarian

A live music performance by Charlotte Sarian. Alongside the performance, there will be a collective presentation of artists' research from Always in Between: • Aleksandr Avagyan • Varduhi Balayan • Julia Borderie & Eloïse Le Gallo • Gohar Droshakiryan • Aurélie Faure • Anouck Lemarquis • Anaïs Leroy • Garush Melkonyan « In mid-December, when the temperature in Paris had dropped to ten degrees below zero and the streets had turned into mirrors, her daughter and son-in-law drove out to the theatre, against her advice. Mrs. Nadia resigned herself and sat down in front of her television, which never lacks pleasant programmes or films. Suddenly a short film about animal life began… suddenly a long, thin snake slid out of the thicket of trees and threw itself onto the ground to chase a fledgling. The snake is a cold-blooded animal that inspires horror. Mrs. Nadia says it is a sign of danger and accidents. While, on the small screen, the fledgling deftly escaped, hiding again and again in thorny bushes to evade its enemy’s pursuit, the voice of an imminent danger reached her: the children were facing disaster. The commentator’s voice said, in an engaging tone: “Let’s see whether our little bird will manage to escape the snake’s clutches. Look how nimble it is, it keeps darting through the thorny bushes so the reptile can’t swallow it.” At that moment, Mrs. Nadia began praying with all her faith. She asked God to save her only daughter from this evil hour and to spare the fledgling, for her daughter was expecting a baby at the end of March… And her voice was heard. The snake could not swallow the fledgling, which, by a clever trick, slipped into a piece of bark and hid, waiting for the enemy to leave. With a sigh of relief, Mrs. Nadia cried out: “They’re out of danger!” For the children came, after midnight, to tell of the danger they had been through: after a violent impact, the Ford had waltzed [spun around] in the middle of a four-way intersection. This example is real and true to life. Mrs. Nadia says that every person has their own antenna for hearing the voices that come from outside. » ՎԷՆԻՒՍ
