Krzysztof Kicior – Edge of Continuity Sound, memory and everyday life across contemporary Armenia Site-responsive sound installation
Krzysztof Kicior – Edge of Continuity Sound, memory and everyday life across contemporary Armenia Site-responsive sound installation :DDD Kunst House, 51 Mesrop Mashtots Avenue, Yerevan Opening: Friday, 9 October 2026; On view through Sunday, 11 October 2026 Edge of Continuity is built from field recordings gathered during a month of travel across Armenia in September 2026 – the sound of the everyday: markets and streets, workshops, voices, weather and open landscapes. The work asks where a culture's memory actually resides, and proposes that alongside monuments and archives it lives in the ordinary sonic fabric of daily life. At a time when Armenia is often perceived from the outside through simplified geopolitical frames, the installation turns instead to the country's lived, audible reality. In the gallery, this material is woven into a spatial composition-installation combining field recording with system-based composition – the artist's practice of writing music within alternative tuning systems. Selected letters of the Armenian alphabet shape the work's structural, spatial and interactive language: visitors move through the installation as through a text written in sound, and their presence becomes part of how it unfolds. There is a quiet symmetry in the setting itself – a work built on the letters of Mesrop Mashtots, presented on the avenue that bears his name. Developed during a residency at :DDD Kunst House, the project is realised with the support of Culture Moves Europe, the mobility programme financed by European Union and implemented by Goethe-Institut. @culturemoveseurope @krzysztofkicior The opening is supported by: Xenharmony Foundation Boduen Brandy Van Ardi Winery Xenharmony Foundation Boduen Brandy Van Ardi Winery
