5 Views: Women's Still Lifes

Translated

A research-based exhibition dedicated to lesser-known female artists of the 19th and 20th centuries from the museum's collection. Artists of different generations, schools, and paths turn to the same genre, still life, transforming it into a medium of self-expression and an independent worldview. Most of the displayed paintings and graphic works are exhibited for the first time. Five artists: • Polina Krayts (student of Mashkov, Lentulov, and Falk; painter of still lifes, portraits, and theatrical designs) • Agnessa Lindeman (participant in exhibitions of the Union of Russian Artists and Russian Landscape) • Maria Sinyakova (co-signer of the futurist manifesto Trumpet of the Martians, whose book graphics are held at MoMA in New York) • Maria Yakunchikova-Weber (member of the Abramtsevo circle, designer of covers for World of Art magazine) • Vera Favorskaya (graduate of VKhUTEMAS whose works are held in the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum) Despite being at the center of their era's artistic life and collaborating with prominent masters, these artists long remained in the shadows of art history. The exhibition aims to return their names to professional and public discourse. Curator: Syuzanna Kankanyan The exhibition runs until February 14, 2027. Admission with museum ticket.
