Reading Club: Mkrtich Armen’s “Yerevan”
As part of the "12 Months" season, the Reading Club explores this month’s theme, "Re///", centered around Mkrtich Armen’s 1931 novel "Yerevan". The book portrays the architectural debates of early Soviet Yerevan—choosing between the "traditional East" and "civilized Europe"—and the tensions between different generations of architects. Banned immediately after release, it remained out of print until writer Aram Pachyan initiated its republication. The reading will be followed by a discussion with architect, former Chief Architect of Yerevan, and former Minister of Urban Development Narek Sargsyan, alongside urban planner and former head of the Cadastre Committee Sarhat Petrosyan. Book language: Armenian. Discussion language: Armenian. Registration: via the link in the organizer's Instagram profile.
Organizer
An independent Yerevan–based platform and public library dedicated to architectural theory and new concepts. Hosts lectures, exhibitions, workshops, curated programs and maintains a specialist book collection, focusing on critical discourse, collaborative projects and community‑oriented events.
